Hampton Inn Cardiff Beach Encinitas, CA

Top notch hotel to stay at. it was very nice to be able to select what the room that I wanted when I checked in online. Parking unfortunately must be paid for, but there were always adequate spots, and it was not too cramped. The rooms are the more modern type where it is smaller and they try to move things into the bathroom area to free up more space. For example, the closet is inside the bathroom instead of located outside in a wardrobe. The overall was very nice. The room was carpeted, with hard flooring near the hallway entry and the bathroom. everything looked pretty clean, minus some staining on the desk chair. Instead of your traditional chair in the corner, they have a small bench in the corner instead. The room was very quiet. My main complaints are the bathroom exhaust fan kept running all night long. I understand it has to run to reduce the humidity, but it was literally the entire night. The refrigerator is inside a cabinet, but it would still somewhat noisy. if your neighbors are loud in the hallways, then you can clearly hear them. Otherwise, if you stay on the north east side, there should be virtually zero noise from the freeway to the south. I did experience some room shaking from a footed neighbor upstairs. I thought my view on the first floor was really great, you can see in the photo below. I'm not certain whether a person can walk the small alleyway and look inside this window. I did not check the Wi-Fi, so I cannot comment on that. The service overall was excellent. I would rate it six out of five stars. I would return to this hotel with no or a few reservations.

Spacious, updated room. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Location is really convenient, right at the freeway exit. The $20 parking charge was a surprise and annoying.

Our apartment had a pipe burst and we were stranded. This was a nearby, comfortable place until we could return home. The pool, jacuzzi and gym are tiny, but the breakfast doesn't disappoint and the room felt clean, it was also very calm and definitely smoke free, which was very necessary with my health issues.

Great hotel with super friendly staff. They have an outdoor pool and hot tub. Breakfast from 6 am to 10 am including waffles, scrambled eggs, potatoes sausage, bacon and egg white fritattas. Also muffins, bagels, cereal, bananas and oranges available.

This has been one of the best hotel experiences I’ve had in California. I travel to San Diego at least 2-3 times a year for sports tournaments. It’s so nice to have an included breakfast with a wide variety of food options that begins at 6am every day of the week (eggs, sausage patties, potatoes, oatmeal, cereal, regular and soy milk, bananas and other fruit, yogurt, bread/bagels/muffins, waffles- 2 flavors daily- the normal waffle batter and an additional fun flavor, this week I’ve had s’mores, churro, and pumpkin spice). They also have a super convenient water bottle filler that also dispenses ice, and they have coffee out in the lobby all day. The staff are all so friendly and accommodating, the woman who was maintaining the breakfast area greeted every single guest as they came in. As other reviewers have mentioned, there is a Mexican food spot right next to the hotel, and the fish tacos are such a cheap but delicious and filling meal. The rooms are relatively spacious, the water pressure in the shower is great, there’s a fridge and microwave in the room, thermostat is easy to adjust, plenty of outlets… basically everything I could ask for to make for a comfortable stay! The only thing that could’ve made this stay 100% perfect would be free parking, but I knew ahead of time that there was a daily fee to park my car because it’s posted on the website. I’ve stayed at other places that are much more expensive that don’t include breakfast, so paying for parking is still a good trade off given the value of everything else I’ve loved about this stay!

Staff are helpful & courteous. Rooms are clean & spacious with plenty of room to add an extra chair (suggested). Mini fridge, microwave, coffee in rooms. Free breakfast (6-10am daily) has several hot & cold options: make your own waffles, fresh eggs, meats, oatmeal yogurt, juices, & continental options. Staff ensure refills are plenty. Free coffee/tea all day. Great location to I-5 main highway but not noisy. Drawback to any CA hotel is nightly parking fee ($20) in addition to room rate. Daily room rate was reasonably priced for the area. Recommended & will return when visiting family in the area.

I can't say enough good things about the hotel. I had a huge quiet room in the back of the hotel with a pretty little view of someone's garden. The staff is super nice and the breakfast was delicious. It's very conveniently located. I stayed at a boutique hotel on the next leg of my trip and it was a huge disappointment compared to my Hampton Inn-Cardiff experience. I'm kind of a East Coast food snob and had a hard time believing the $1.39 fish taco at the gas station next door that I read about in other reviews was really worth having, but I tried it and it was awesome. Definitely make time for a meal there.

We had a pleasant stay at the Hampton Inn Cardiff. The location was good and felt safe, with clean rooms and easy access to the area. It’s within about an hour walk of the beach, which was a nice bonus. The pool was decent, and the fitness center was okay—enough to get a basic workout in. Breakfast was about a 6/10 in terms of selection, but it was still convenient. The staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. A big plus is the Mexican restaurant next door, which was very good and less than a 3-minute walk. Overall, a solid and comfortable option in Cardiff
